RAF 1943 WINGS FOR VICTORY Faux Marble Plaque

An absolutely fabulous plaque which must of hung in a bank or some such building. It was presented as an award by the Air Ministry in recognition of achievement for the Wings For Victory, War Savings Campaign of 1943.

The plaque is large and heavy and appears to be of white marble (in fact plastic, as the makers mark attests: DE LA RUE PLASTICS). Unfortunately, this plaque suffered a fall during its' life and has a crack across the upper right corner (see the pictures). A steel strip was added to the back to reinforce it, and it can hang without fear. Really it doesn't detract much at all.

The plaque measures 14 inches by 23.5 inches and appears to be "carved" in base relief. It weights 7.5 pounds.

This will make an exceptional backdrop to you RAF collection!
