A scarce Mk II helmet with painted insignia to both sides to the Saskatoon Light Infantry (MG). The SLI were the 1st Div MG and Mortars unit and served with fame throughout Sicily and Italy.

The insignia is painted Blue over Gold over Blue. Inside the helmet is painted the owner's service number L1711 which is part of the SLI allotted block. Included with this helmet is a copy of the memers service file.

L1711, CSM W.J. MADDISON. He joined the SLI on 15 Oct 1939, went overseas with the unit and was returned to Canada and discharged in 1944 for health reasons. He was a WW1 veteran who had served in the Royal Navy during the Great War.

The helmet is suffering from paint peeling but still a good solid piece.
