WW1 British Hessian/ Sand Bag Helmet Cover- Notts & Derby Regiment

An exceedingly rare four panel helmet cover for the Brodie made of hessian sand bags. Complete with two small wool green diamond unit or formation insignia (I'm told Notts and Derby Regiment but am not certain). There are no rips or damage to this cover and it is in excellent condition, however a bit grubby as is to be expected. This item has been folded in four for many years and has creases as such. It would be easy enough to fit this to a helmet should you wish. The tie string is present. I've only had one other of these in 35 years of collecting and the ones I've seen in museum collections on helmets tend to be quite the worse for wear.

A seldom encountered item for the serious British headgear collector.
